Sixth Human Extinction in 12 years
Sixth Human Extinction in 12 years

What is happening to our lovely earth? CAUTION: This is a very serious message from our United Nation (UN) Environmental and Ecological Report 2019. The Host of Biodiversity Research Program Sir Bob Watson (Atmospheric Science Expert) said:

“Unfortunately, if we don’t get to grips with addressing biodiversity loss and climate change, there will be far more species like this Dodo tie that go extinct. If we continue business as usual, continue to produce our food and energy the way we do, we will be in real trouble, we will lose biodiversity and we will undermine in the long term such as food security, water security and human health. We have to act now to safe the environment for the sake of humankind.”

We left only 12 years to prevent this happen!
We left only 12 years to prevent this happen!

IPBES published the first compilation report in 2019, this time could be the most comprehensive survey of the earth’s natural environment compare to the previous 2005 Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. 145 experts from 50 countries took three years, with more than 15000 research reports and 1800 pages of conclusions endorsed by 130 countries including U.S., China and Russia at the UN conference in Paris.

We have lost 87% of natural native forest, natural native wet land since the year of 1700. More than 40% of amphibians, nearly 33% of growing coral reef and more than 33% of marine mammals is under serious threat. We pour 300 to 400 million tons of heavy metals, solvents, toxic sludge and other waste into the ocean every year, and the ocean is in serious crisis right now.

Fishermen said in an interview: “40 years ago, we would caught more than 100KG of fish within a hour and now we don’t even get 1KG of fish.”.

Atmospheric temperature rise of 0.5 degrees celsius, global coral reefs will shrink by 70% to 90%, and increament of 1 degree celsius 99% of them will be at stake.

Coral Reefs is disappearing…
Coral Reefs is disappearing…

It is not just an environmental issue, it is a economic issue, development issue, security issue, social and moral ethical issue. The time to action clearly is now. If countries do not take action actively, we afraid that as soon as 2050, human beings will reap their own fruits.

Let’s do something for our Earth, even it is just a small action example like planting, try to prevent plastic use, try using public transport such as train, buses, car pool and more. All of these action actually is helping and preventing the Earth get worst.

Alright guys that’s all for today and wish you all the best in the year of 2020. Happy New Year 2020!
